Not embarrassed to play sperm donor: Ayushmann Khurrana

Television presenter turned actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who is all set to make his debut with 'Vicky Donor', says he is proud to play a sperm donor in the film. Ayushmann, 27, said he approached his serious character in a realistic yet light-hearted way so that he could connect to the youth.

"Sperm donation is the central theme of the film but that doesn't mean that we have made it sound like a serious issue."

"This is the reason why I am not at all embarrassed to play such a character because we have given the entire thing a light-hearted take. I seriously feel that 'Vicky Donor' could turn out to be a national award winning film," Khurrana told PTI.

The film will hit screens on April 20 alongside Vikram Bhatt's erotic thriller 'Hate Story'.

Ayushmann is known for incorporating the fun element in his TV shows and said that being himself onscreen is something that he has learnt right from his stunt in 'Roadies'.

"My parents have thoroughly supported me despite such a unique subject being explored here in the film. They were okay with me when I had donated sperms during the Roadies show and that too on the national television.

"They are more than happy to see me on the big screen. People have changed their thoughts and thankfully there are no apprehensions or inhibitions about something as important and topical as sperm donation," he said.

Kareena Kapoor’s cameo for Akshay Kumar’s 'Rowdy Rathore'!

Kareena Kapoor is busy making special appearances in films nowadays, it seems. Besides the item song in Dabangg 2, Bebo will also be seen making a guest appearance in the Akshay Kumar starrer Rowdy Rathore.

The actress recently shot for her portions in the film, directed by Prabhu Deva. However, Kareena did not charge any fee for her cameo. Rather, she says she did the cameo for the film’s producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-producer Shabinaa Khan.

Kareena Kapoor has been on friendly terms with Shabinaa Khan for years. The two first became friends when Shabinaa Khan, as a designer, used to design clothes for Shahid Kapoor. Even though Kareena broke up with Shahid she kept her friendship with Shabinaa intact. And doing a cameo for free for Shabinaa only goes to show Kareena’s love for her.

However, a source tells us that Shabinaa Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali might reciprocate to Kareena Kapoor’s favour by giving her an expensive gift.

Sunny Leone becomes citizen of India!

Over the past few years, there has been an influx of international actresses in Bollywood. But this is probably the first time when an overseas actress has decided to give up her foreign nationality and become an Indian resident.

Sunny Leone, who was born and raised in Canada, has become an Indian citizen. 'I have the greatest news today everyone!!! I am officially a resident of INDIA!!!!!! Wooohoooo,' she tweeted.

The Indo-Canadian adult actress, who rose to fame in India after her stint in the reality TV show Bigg Boss, is busy brushing up her Hindi skills for her upcoming film Jism 2.

Now that Leone won't have to seek work permit, we wonder if she would be able to establish a foothold in the Hindi film industry.

The Nagpur University was established on 4th August, 1923 with six affiliated colleges and 927 students. During 1947, the number of students increased to about 9000 accompanied by the improvement and diversification of curricula and expansion in the range of subjects. The expansion of library and sports facilities occurred during these years for the intellectual and physical well being of the students. It was in 1958 that some new Departments in Arts and Social Science faculties were opened; the major expansion, however, came in 1963 when several science and other teaching Departments were started. The Departments were shifted to spacious buildings in the main campus in 1972-73. In later years, several career oriented courses have been started viz., Business Management, Fine Arts, Mass Communication, Library Science, Physical Education, etc.

HTC One X in 2012 India - Hands on HTC One X

HTC One X in 2012 India - Hands on HTC One X

HTC One X

Taiwanese phone maker HTC three days back unveiled its flagship phone One X at a regional launch in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The Mobile Indian was there to cover the launch event. Here we present the first look of HTC One X smartphone running Android 4.0.
HTC One X features a polycarbonate unibody that is said to have the ruggedness of metal but is super lightweight.
This is the first time that HTC has experimented with a polycarbonate body design and it has come out in flying colours with the One X. Its polycarbonate body is really tough; during the event I accidentally dropped the handset from a height of six feet on a temporary staircase and the smartphone didn't show any sign of damage.

One X comes with a 1.5 GHz Super 4-plus-1 quadcore Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor with integrated fifth battery saver core and a high performance 12 core Nvidia GPU. The device also has a new HTC Sense 4 interface, which makes navigation quite smooth.
The phone has a large 4.7 inch, 720p HD screen with contoured Corning Gorilla Glass that protects the display from scratches. I tried scratching the glass with a pen and coins, and were quite amazed to see no scratch marks on the screen.
The device has an internal memory of 32 GB and an additional 25 GB Dropbox free account so you can easily back up your photos, songs and other documents to the cloud.
In terms of a navigation button one thing to note is that in the One series handsets, instead of the usual menu, home, back and search capacitive buttons on the front panel there are back, home and recent apps buttons.
Also, unlike earlier HTC phones with Beats Audio, which only worked in the stock music and video app, HTC One X integrates with Beats Audio more deeply. Beats Audio's EQ enhancements will join the party whenever audio plays, whether it's in the music player, on an internet radio app, or on YouTube.
But the most amazing thing about the HTC One X is its camera capabilities. The camera clicks real fast - at as little as 0.7 seconds and is helped by an autofocus function that takes just 0.2 seconds to get ready. The camera can even click 90 snaps at a go if the user wants to capture some action.
Also, if you are witnessing something important and want to capture it right away but the phone is locked, don't worry. Simply drag the camera icon to the unlock icon and the camera viewfinder comes on and is ready for action.
One more impressive thing about the phone is its Media Link feature. This feature lets you connect HTC One X to a large-screen TV with a three-finger swipe action. And that's not all, after connecting the smartphone to a TV one can play a movie on the TV and simultaneously use the mobile screen to check mails or even make phone calls. All this has been made possible by using a Wifi dongle which can be connected into the HDMI slot of the TV.
First impression
HTC One X is an extremely well designed and impressive smartphone. It will definitely give some tough competition to iPhone 4S with its large Gorilla Glass screen, solid build quality, and super-fast camera. But the phone's price tag of Rs 35,000 might not be attractive to many people.

Top 10 lists, most-clicked search results leading to popularity contest on the web

he digital age has us living in a perpetual and pervasive popularity contest.

Leader boards, top 10 lists, most-liked posts and most-clicked search results define what is successful in business and culture.

Amazon's lists of the top-selling electronics, top-selling books, or top-selling electronic books, each with subcategories, tell us what to buy. The top choices of a Google results list are the ones we click on, never the ones at the bottom of the page.

Being at the top of these lists can generate substantial windfalls. The iTunes App Store, where apps like "Angry Birds," "Words With Friends" and Pages have spent months at the top of the charts, help the app-makers collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue, while those who cannot get that visibility founder in obscurity.

"In some ways, the growth of the Internet has forced companies to create filters that help you locate and correlate things you need; lists are the perfect filter for that," said Matthew O. Jackson, an economist at Stanford University who studies social networks and game theory. "But, being 11th on a Top 10 list on the app store is a lot different than being 10th on that list."

Once at the very top of those iTunes charts, it takes a long time to fall off. And with good reason, too. Would you rather sift through 600,000 apps in the App Store or quickly browse the top 25 list?

"We have run into the filter bubble issue, which is a homogenization of culture," says Clay Johnson, author of "The Information Diet," a new book that argues that consumers should take responsibility for the information they seek and consume online.

There are plenty of other games besides "Angry Birds," he says, but you wouldn't know it from looking at Apple's charts. "Your clicks have consequences. With every action you take online, you're not just consuming, you're voting, too."

Popularity rankings are not new. There were Hot 100 music lists on the radio and weekly box-office tallies before there was a microchip. But the difference is that while a store may put the New York Times best-sellers near the entrance, other books can be found there, too.

The digital leader board channels us straight to the choices everyone has already made. This isn't to argue that we should do away with filters and lists, but the system now does not work if we want diversity of opinion and tastes.

It also turns out, getting on one of these list isn't always a question of who's best, but more about learning how to game the system. Companies can hire people to write positive reviews about products and apps in online forums and stores, driving interest and pushing them further up the roster.

Ben Lorica, a senior data scientist with O'Reilly Media, who closely tracks the iTunes App Store, says the other technique to getting into the top lists in iTunes is to be promoted by Apple on the "New & Noteworthy," "What's Hot" or "Staff Favorites" section of the App Store. He said: "Getting on one of those lists is the single biggest thing you can do to boost your downloads."

Then there are suggested user lists, where startups like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pick the people they believe should be highlighted on a new service. People who were added to the Twitter suggested user list in the early days collected millions of followers from the windfall.

Where do they get those lists of influential people? Often from other lists of supposedly influential people. Not only are we in a popularity contest, we are in a popularity contest in a hall of mirrors.

Now, I need you to do me a favor. When you finish reading this column, go online and click on the button that says "e-mail." We can get this column to the top of The Times' Most E-Mailed list. That will ensure more people will read it.

Indian websites targeted by China-based hackers

China-based hackers carried out a spate of cyber attacks on the websites of the Indian government and Tibetan activists, reveals a report by IT security firm Trend Micro. The report further reveals that these attacks were part of an organised effort and attackers succeeded in defacing 233 computers. The Luckycat cyber campaign, is being linked with 90 cyber attacks in recent past that targeted the Indian, Japanese and Tibetan activists

Baburaj Varma, Head - Technical Services (India & SAARC) Trend Micro says the attacks have been traced back to hackers based in China. He further said that the attackers targeted a number of Japanese and Indian industrial sites working in aerospace, enginery, engineering, shipping, and military research.

According to reports, the computers were attacked with malware by prompting e-mail recipients to open attachments. Trend Micro also notes the attacks have been "extremely successful" and were aimed at monitoring the targeted sites. The attackers behind Luckycat campaign were given infrastructure to organise other attacks including the ShadowNet campaign.

The government websites have continued to be targeted by the cyber attackers. Union minister Sachin Pilot recently revealed as many as 112 government websites, including those of Planning Commission, the Finance Ministry and various State government agencies, were hit by cyber attacks during a three-month period ending February 2012. DRDO in one of its reports revealed that computer servers of the government departments were attacked nearly 200 times during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

RIM 2012- RIM slashes price of BlackBerry Curve 8530

NEW DELHI: BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) is now looking at CDMA devices to boost its sales in the country and is re-launching its Curve 8530 model at about 12 per cent lower price of Rs 11,990.

Curve 8530, which was earlier available at Rs 13,500, is the CDMA version of BlackBerry's most popular GSM device -- Curve 8520.

"Smartphones are getting popular day by day, but a majority of these are on GSM technology. While CDMA mobile phones have been popular, there is a very little choice for consumers when it comes to CDMA smartphones. And that is why we are re-launching Curve 8530," RIM India Head of CDMA business Francis Jose said.

This will not only help users who are looking at more smartphone options for CDMA, but will also ensure that more CDMA users can move to smartphones, he added.

GSM and CDMA are two mobile telephony technologies, of which GSM is dominant in India with telecom operators like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular offering services across India.

On the other hand, CDMA operators in the country include Sistema Shyam Teleservices, Tata Teleservices and Reliance Communications, though the last two also offer GSM services.

"People are ready to pay top dollar for good devices. CDMA technology has been known to provide great data experience and smartphones ensure that," Jose said.

According to IDC data, India CDMA smartphone shipments are expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.6 per cent until 2016. From less than one lakh units in 2010, the market for CDMA devices in India is expected to grow to over three lakh units in 2012 and to over six lakh units in 2016.

RIM's portfolio of CDMA devices includes BlackBerry Style 9670 (Rs 19,704), BlackBerry Curve 9330 (Rs 15,990), BlackBerry Bold 9650 (Rs 20,990) and BlackBerry Curve 9350 (Rs 20,990).

The Canadian firm has been aggressively pushing its GSM and CDMA devices in the country even as its global sales have slumped.

RIM posted a net loss of $125 million for the three months ended March 3, 2012 compared to net income of $934 million in the same quarter of fiscal 2011. During the quarter, RIM shipped 11.1 million BlackBerry smartphones and over 500,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. RIM does not give country specific details.

The company has recently slashed prices of its handsets and tablet PC, PlayBook, as well as expanding its retail presence in India to boost sales.

While prices of GSM handsets were slashed by up to 26 per cent, the prices of PlayBook were reduced by more than half to Rs 24,490 for the 64GB version under an offer from the original price Rs 37,990. This was further reduced to Rs 19,990 earlier this month.

Sunny ditches Jaipur to shoot in Odisha today

So much has been written on Sunny Leone beginning to shoot for " Jism 2" on April 1 in Rajasthan. Work was to begin today but things went completely out of gear on Friday afternoon.

To acclimatize herself to the climate, Sunny had landed in Jaipur on Wednesday morning along with Pooja Bhatt, Arunoday Singh and Randeep Hooda. But the rising mercury levels was too much for her to handle. And the adult star insisted that she wouldn't be able to shoot the song sequences that Pooja had planned in the sand dunes!

Says a source, "All hell broke loose and Pooja was at her wit's end trying to figure out how to handle this situation. Repeated requests to Sunny fell on deaf ears. Both Randeep and Arunoday tried to reason with Sunny but she was clear about the fact that her health was a priority and would not compromise there. She said she wouldn't mind shooting in the forts but when it came to canning the shots in the deserts, she just wouldn't be able to pull through."

That's when it was decided to change the location for shooting the dance numbers to Odisha. Says the source, "Things are being kept hush-hush but it's a fact that Pooja and her unit took a flight to Bhubaneswar on Friday night. Sunny is scheduled to arrive today. She will be heading straight to the Ramachandi beach to shoot a song. However, the unit doesn't want to talk about this change in plans because of the huge popularity of Sunny in Odisha. It's a fact that in the whole of India, it's Odisha where Sunny has been googled the maximum number of times. They just want to quietly shoot the song on the beach with Sunny and Randeep and then return to the forts in Jaipur."

Industry sources say that there is more in store. Apparently, talks are on to rope in John Abraham and Bipasha Basu to do a special dance number for this movie. "Pooja's "Jism" had launched the careers of John and Bips. They have agreed to work together again for the "Jism" franchise."

Says Mahesh Bhatt, "Sunny was supposed to sizzle on the screen but the Jaipur heat was too much for the hot star and made her throw a tantrum. She said she can't shoot in the desert of Jaipur. So, we decided to shoot in Odisha. The temperature there is not any better but what works is that Sunny is the most goodled star from there in India. Meanwhile, Bipasha and John will do an item song for "Jism 2" to outshine Sunny." April Fool!

So, did you believe all the goss that we gave you about "Jism 2"? If you did, you just forgot one thing and that's the date today. When we called up Mahesh Bhatt and told him that we wanted to pull a fast one on the readers on April Fool, he agreed to give the fake quotes all in good humour.

Now for the real story. Says Bhatt, "We will be shooting in Jaipur for 10 days. Sunny Leone is one of the most professional actors I have seen. Nothing on earth can change our plans of shooting the movie in Jaipur. The heat is hardly a factor for an actor."

And is there any truth to Bipasha being a part of "Jism 2"? "The film had gone to Bipasha and Mallika. But Pooja was not intuitively comfortable with them. It was a tired space and that's why we decided to have Sunny in the lead.

Apart from Sunny, Arunoday and Randeep and a talented supporting cast, we don't need anyone else to prop the movie. The music is being done by Arka and Mithoon," Bhatt signs off.

Movie Review: 3 (Tamil): All Hype, No Juice

3', starring Dhanush and Shruti Hassan hit the screens with unprecedented momentum thanks to the universal hit song 'Kolaveri Di'. But unfortunately the Aiswarya R Dhanush film '3' will most probably go down in memory lane as just the 'Kolaveri movie'.

In the cinema, excitement was ripe in the air. Everyone seemed ready to welcome the worldwide trending star Dhanush on screen. The cine hall kept thundering with sounds of a thousand varieties. The film got a rather unexpected but steady start, that slowly started looking like a cliché, then slowly withered off into dullness. By the time the song 'Kolaveri' arrived, the film had gone way out of pace to match the tempo of that song for an audience whose interest had petered off. Yet, there were many who were seen dancing up front near the screen!

As the film slowly whined towards an end, the shouts of proclamation had turned out into unpardonable screams of abuse. '3' lacks everything but 'Kolaveri' in it. The film is made to be intensely romantic and passionate. It is the extremes of human passion that leads the lives of the two main characters 'Janani' (Shruti Hassan) and 'Ram' (Dhanush). The opening parts of the film depicting the falling in love of two teenage hearts, amidst all the fear and indecisiveness of the age has been shot well enough, with good music and camera work. The only problem is that it has been seen many times over and over again on the big screen; at least a couple of times from Dhanush himself. The presence of Prabhu as Ram's father is indeed a refreshing sight to see and yet you feel terribly disappointed how underutilised he is in the movie.

Both Dhanush and Shruti Hassan have performed well as 'Ram' and 'Janani' and with oodles of chemistry, but the intensity of their performance fails to be on par with what the script demanded. Anirudh Ravichender is a very talented musician, yet the songs in ‘3’ do not have enough substance in them to make up for a dragging storyline. Sunder Ramu as 'Senthil', dear friend to 'Ram', has played his part quite well. The 'intensity' factor was definitely seen in his face wherever it was needed. Velraj has done a terrific job with the camera. The cinematography is one department which turns out to be a huge, but sadly, the only positive – again, other than Kolaveri – in the movie.

Aishwarya R Dhanush's debut film would bring her credits and even accolades for trying, but won't be recognised for the skill in her craft. '3' tries to make a new theme by joining two over used, worn out themes, which fails to make the right sort of connection with each other to make for a smooth transition from one to next. That said, the film has given both actors a tremendous opportunity to display their acting talents and both have given their best. Dhanush especially, has put up a commendable effort as the loving teenager and psychologically disturbed youth. But having the statutory warning of 'consumption of alcohol is injurious to health' on the screen every time liquor is shown is frustrating.

To sum it up, the film ends with the message that suicide is not the only option; well, it is true, you can also opt not to see '3'!

I’ll never sing for SRK again

Since last singing for Shah Rukh Khan ("Dhoom Tana" in " Om Shanti Om") in 2007, Abhijeet Bhattacharya has kept out of the limelight. The singer has been in the real estate business for some time, and is also investing in art. "I am also involved with a coffee brand and will soon join hands with an Australia-based coffee brand to launch retail outlets here," he says. He tells us why he's moving away from singing, the profession that made him a household name.

So you're a full-fledged businessman now?

Who doesn't want to broaden one's avenues? Singing was never my bread and butter anyway. Also, there are things I am hurt about.

Such as?

I don't know why our filmmakers never give singers due credit. During the end credits of " Main Hoon Na", the singers' names appeared right at the end. Worst still, segments were shot with the chaiwalas and dressmen, but not with singers. My family saw the film and felt betrayed. The same happened with "Om Shanti Om". And here I am... Shah Rukh Khan's voice! I conveyed my disappointment to Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

He also got Akon to sing for him...

Except for pubs and discotheques, where does one hear that song? But folks still fondly remember the "Chalte Chalte", "Yes Boss" and "Main Hoon Na" numbers. It is these songs that have immortalised Shah Rukh. I will never sing for him again.

What if he approaches you? Sorry bol do! When you can make up with Farah Khan, whose husband tweeted rubbish about you, then there should be no problem with a simple man like me. But this is not about me. I want all singers to get their due. There is this one incident I just can't forget.

Go on...

I was in Chennai to record a song for this very famous music director currently ruling Hindi filmdom. There was a wooden bench, not even a sofa, and a singer, a Padmashree winner, writers and a renowned lyricist were there, waiting for over seven hours to meet the man. I did not want to be humiliated like this and I left. I will soon start a studio that will give newcomers, talented music directors and singers a platform to record numbers free of cost.

John Abraham turns cop in Kala Ghoda

After "Force", there's some more action up the sleeves of Bollywood heartthrob John Abraham. The actor has once again signed up to play a cop in director Aditya Bhattacharya's new film Kala Ghoda which will also feature Kunaal Roy Kapoor of "Delhi Belly" fame.

"Kala Ghoda", set in the Mumbai underbelly, will be shot in real time on actual locations and promises some real action.

"It's the story of two cops, one hard-nosed no-nonsense and volatile played by John and the other a goofy ineffectual bumbling cop, played by Kunaal Roy Kapoor, who come together under trying circumstances for one night of relentless action in Mumbai," said Aditya, who is Bimal Roy's grandson and director Basu Bhattacharya's son.

The film goes on the floors at the end of the year and involves situations that come straight out of the record books of real-life police stations. The director admits he was initially reluctant to get into the project.

"'Kala Ghoda' is a authentic cops film. And my catchline for the film would be 'No Gun No Fun'. I was a bit hesitant. It was John's exuberance and energy level that convinced me," said Aditya Bhattacharya.

"His homework for the role is incredible. I come from a sensibility different from the archetypal 'Bollywood' cinema. I felt John Abraham and I coming together to do a film would be as odd as John and Kunaal Roy Kapoor's characters in 'Kala Ghoda' coming together.

"But John's dedication to the film has convinced me that 'Bollywood' no longer exists. It is a state of mind where the walls have dissolved and a misfit like me has a place here," he added.

John Abraham, who will produce the film, conceives it as a low-budget gritty independent film, meant for a specific target audience.

Housefull 2 Super hit- Abhijeet Bhattacharya accuses Housefull 2 makers of plagiarism

Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the singer who was once hailed as the voice of Shah Rukh Khan has filed a case in the Bombay High Court against T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar, music composers Sajid-Wajid and producer Sajid Nadiadwala. He has accused them of lifting a tune from his album Tere Bina that released about a decade ago and using it in one of the songs in the upcoming film Housefull 2 - The Dirty Dozen.

According to Abhijeet, the song Do You Know in Housefull 2, has the same theme melody as his song Baje Jo Bansi Thama Karo. However, the singer stated that he has no intentions of stalling the release of the movie unlike what composer Ram Sampath did before the release of Krazzy 4.

To Mumbai Mirror, Abhijeet said, "This is about the pain and agony. They (music composers Sajid-Wajid) haven't copied the song. They have simply used the lead track of my composition some 30 times in the number. They are such good music directors, they could have simply asked me. I would have readily agreed."

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who will miss the premiere of Housefull 2 since he has to be present at court for the hearing was equally outraged by Abhijeet's allegation. "It comes as a big surprise and he has sung so many songs for me. I guess filing court cases have become a common habit before a film's release. We are a part of the same fraternity and this thing could have been sorted out in a more amicable manner. What is the point of spoiling things?""said Nadiadwala.

Abhijeet, on the other hand, believes that things have already been spoilt. "I don't want money or fame. I don't want them to give me credit. Neither do I intend to stop the release of the film. Bahut log copy karte hain. But itni besharmi badh gayi hai. They can simply meet me and apologise. I am fine with that. But these people need to be punished," Abhijeet told Mirror angrily.

Blood Money & Kunal View - Blood Money' is not what you expect to be

Blood Money

Kunal Khemu, after doing a variety of films, from sex thriller to comedies, has now tried his hands on an outright thriller " Blood Money" where he shares the screen with Amrita Puri and Mia Uyeda.

Talking about the film, Kunal says, "It's not a sex thriller as people might be thinking due to the leaked scenes between me and Mia. Rather it's a story of a small town guy who comes to a big city and gets entangled in the big ugly corporate world. What follows is a hurricane ride where his sense and sensibilities are tested at every step."

"Blood Money" is yet another film which has been shot in the exotic locations of Cape Town, and due to the script's demands they had to shoot in summer clothes when it was chilling in Cape Town.

To which Kunal laughs and shares his plight saying, "I was put in front of the camera in a normal shirt when it was really cold outside. I used to get shivers and still had to maintain a straight body so that the shivers are not visible on screen. While the rest of the crew was nicely tucked in heavy jackets and warm clothes. Though it was tough, it was a lot of fun."

"Blood Money" is also the debut film of model turned Vj turned actor Mia Uyeda, who shares a steamy on -screen scene with Kunal, which remains the sole talking point of the movie.

Sanjay Dutt was to play Jimmy Shergill's role in MUNNABHAI MBBS

When Raju Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra called Sanjay Dutt to read the script of their critically acclaimed blockbuster film MUNNABHAI MBBS , they wanted him to do the role of the dying cancer patient Zaheer, which was finally played by Jimmy Shergill. Sanjay Dutt had agreed to do the role even without reading the script. This was revealed during an open discussion after the screening of Vinod Chopra's MUNNABHAI Series as part of Vinod Chopra Film Festival at PVR Cinemas, Juhu, Mumbai. The entire cast and crew of the film was present except Gracy Singh, the heroine of the film.

So what is it that made them cast Sanjay Dutt in the lead role that revived his flagging career? It was a matter of one night. After Sanjay Dutt said yes to Zaheer's role and left, Vinod Chopra kept thinking about him whole night and came to the conclusion by next day morning that he was perfect for the lead role. And the rest is history. Sanjay Dutt was called and told about it. Sanjay Dutt again said yes without even knowing what Vinod Chopra was talking about since he had never read the script. The 2003 film that took very poor initials at box office, became a big hit because of a positive word-of-mouth buzz and thus was born the MUNNABHAI phenomenon and a durable film franchise, probably the first of its kind in the history of Indian cinema.
