When actress Vidya Balan came to Delhi recently, she was in a very playful mood. She sang, posed happily for the cameras, and kept urging the audience to clap louder.

She was here for the launch of Aliva's new baked snacks - Multigrain Waves - as their newly-appointed brand ambassador. Apart from that, Aliva has also launched Milk Minis and Crispy Thinz.
Vidya seemed especially excited about the brand's new TVC, in which she plays a double role - one of a traditional women a la "Parineeta" and another of a sensual woman a la Silk Smitha, in keeping with Aliva Multigrain Waves' dual promise of 'Upar Se Tasty, Andar Se Healthy'. She told us, "I was thrilled about the double role, and the TVC took me back to "Parineeta", which was very exciting. I love snacking on Aliva, and now I don't feel like a criminal snacking because it's not just tasty, it's also very healthy."
After Vidya posed for the shutterbugs, she told everyone present that she had something to share, something she called the 'Bombaat Remix'. She then went on to sing the song "Ooh La La" to the tune of "Piyu Bole" from "Parineeta", and doubled over laughing before she could even finish two lines. After composing herself, she said, "What? I'm just having some fun!" and continued laughing. Vidur Vyas, marketing director, foods, PepsiCo India, said, "Vidya is a great match to highlight the brand's positioning of a snack jo tasty hai, achcha hai. She is a versatile actress and a warm person. Aliva is not only a tasty snack but is made with ingredients like grains. Our TV campaign highlights the same multifaceted personality."

currently signed up for three films together. Starting with Prabhudeva’s Rowdy Rathore, which releases on June 1, the pair will also be seen in Shirish Kunder’s Joker, which releases this year end. They have even been cast together in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2, making it a hattrick for them. Sonakshi says, “We get along very well. He is so jovial with everyone on the sets, be it the light man or the spot boy. That kind of humility is rare. When your co-actor is a good person, it’s easier to translate the chemistry and camaraderie onscreen.”

Sonakshi remembers watching the Akshay starrer Hera Pheri (2000) as the first film that she saw with her friends without a baby sitter. She says, “That’s my favourite film. I also liked Housefull 3.”

Ask her why she chose to be in another male dominated film after Dabangg (2010) and she says, “Rowdy… and Dabangg are very different stories. The only similarity is that they both are maseladar and dhamakedar films. I don’t choose a film looking at the length of my role. If a character connects with me and I feel the audience might like it, I do it.” The Dabangg girl adds she will have ample time to experiment in the future.

Shotgun Jr is also upbeat about her live performance at the forthcoming IFFA 2012 in Singapore. She says, “I’ve had the opportunity to work with extremely talented choreographers like Prabhudeva, Vishnudeva, Saroj Khan and Farah Khan in my films. When Sarojji choreographed ‘Chammak challo chel chabili…’ she said ‘you will make me proud.’ I cried.”

Aishwarya voted top celebrity mom in online survey

Bachchan bahu Aishwarya Rai tops the list of the ideal celebrity mothers in Bollywood, a status she shares with her Hollywood counterpart Angelina Jolie, according to a survey.

Altogether 54 per cent of the respondents voted for the former Miss World followed by Karisma Kapur who got 27 per cent votes as the ideal mother.

Married to Abhishek Bachchan, 38-year-old Aishwarya gave birth to a girl in November last year.

The survey was conducted by matrimonial portal Shaadi.com to find out the Bollywood diva who has the qualities of being an ideal mother and if Indians see her fit the role well.

Two other actresses, Malaika Arora Khan and Lara Dutta, were the other contenders as the ideal celebrity mom in the survey.

When it comes to be an ideal mother in Hollywood, 67 per cent respondents voted for Angelina Jolie.

The survey further revealed that Indians feel that National Award winning actress Priyanka Chopra would make an ideal mother once she attains motherhood as she got 30 per cent of the votes followed by Kareena Kapoor.

Yesteryear actress Hema Mailini and her daughter Esha Deol were voted the 'Most popular celebrity mother-daughter duo' who make a great pairing and share a bond.

Anupama Chopra's review: Dangerous Ishhq

Dangerous Ishhq
Direction: Vikram Bhatt
Actors: Karisma Kapoor, Rajneesh Duggal, Jimmy Shergill
Rating: *1/2

Salman's 'Ek Tha Tiger', teaser gets roaring responseIt's easy to understand why Karisma Kapoor chose Dangerous Ishhq as her comeback film after a hiatus of six years and two children. She's the hero.
She sets the plot in motion. She unravels the mystery. Eventually, she takes on the villain.  She does this while wearing pink lipstick, gravity-defying high heels, gorgeous Manish Malhotra-designed Mughal-era Anarkali kurtas and Rajasthani ghagras, depending on which century she's in.

Dangerous Ishhq is an epic love story that repeats itself from 1535 to the present because in each era the lovers are thwarted. We begin in contemporary times. Sanjana, played by Kapoor, is a supermodel in a relationship with Rohan, an industrialist played by Rajneesh Duggal. Rohan gets kidnapped and Sanjana starts to get visions of her past lives. Her best friend, a doctor, declares: I think we need a doctor of another kind. After which we get a solemn lecture on the validity of past-life regression and Sanjana starts to ask questions like: How can I meet my soul?

It would have been smarter to ask: Why did I sign this film? Dangerous Ishhq is essentially cheesy B-grade material treated with deathly seriousness but becomes unintentionally funny. In the second half, we even get a sorceress, fashionably dressed in black with silver accessories, who casts spells by squeezing lemons into water.  All of this is done in inconsistent 3D so blurry shots and shadows add to your woes. As does Duggal's consistently expressionless face.

Kapoor is an attractive woman who tries earnestly to make sense of this time-warped story. But it is a Herculean task. Dangerous Ishhq proves to be dangerous indeed.

FACEBOOK NEW APP CENTERS 2012 - Facebook launches app center

FROM - www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-facebook-app-store-20120510,0,4055189.story
Those apps that have you wasting hours and annoying your friends with invitations on Facebook are getting a new clearinghouse. And some of them could soon come with a fee.
Facebook announced, "For the over 900 million people that use Facebook, the App Center will become the new, central place to find great apps like Draw Something, Pinterest, Spotify, Battle Pirates, Viddy, and Bubble Witch Saga," in a blog post.
This will be where all comers -- whether by web or mobile -- will find Facebook apps. Actually, only access through iOS and Android Facebook apps was mentioned in the post, although there is a Facebook app in the Windows Phone Marketplace as well.
"We will give developers the option to offer paid apps," the post reads. "This is a simple-to-implement payment feature that lets people pay a flat fee to use an app on Facebook.com."
Developers will have access to an app ratings metric tracking how users rate apps over time. "Well-designed apps that people enjoy will be prominently displayed," according to the post. "Apps that receive poor user ratings or don’t meet the quality guidelines won't be listed."
The addition of paid apps comes as Facebook, currently on its roadshow, prepares for its initial public offering on Nasdaq next week. The addition of paid apps through mobile, if successful, could be a solution to its primary obstacle as a business -- making money from mobile devices.
Facebook has nearly 158.9 million unique U.S. visitors who reach the site on computers and 78 million who reach it via mobile phones, with overlap between the two groups, according to ComScore.

MAHARASHTRA AND AMIR KHAN: Maharashtra seeks Aamir's help in fight against foeticide

Impressed by actor Aamir Khan taking an initiative in curbing female foeticide , the Maharashtra government is trying to rope him to rectify Maharashtra's skewed sex ratio.

Maharashtra health minister Suresh Shetty has written a four-page letter to the actor, congratulating him on taking up this social issue and also urging him to associate himself with the state government's drive to stop female foeticide.

The letter comes after the census figures for 2011 showed how the state's child sex ratio was 833 girls per 1000 boys, considerably lower than the national average of 914 girls per 1,000 boys.

The state government is worried as the percentage of females being born in comparison to males is witnessing a steady decline. In 2001, the state had 883 girls being born per 1,000 boys.

Rural areas are the worst affected. Beed in Marathwada has the lowest average with 801 girls being born per 1,000 boys.

It's not just rural areas but, ironically, even urban areas are witnessing a steady decline. For instance, in Mumbai, the figure has declined from 922 girls in 2001 to 874 girls for every 1,000 boys in 2011.

Shetty, in his letter to Aamir, has also written how stringent steps have been taken by the state to prosecute doctors who conduct sex determination tests.

Aamir is not the first actor that the state government has approached in this regard. It had earlier approached Ajay Devgan and his wife Kajol, who have a daughter and a son.

3 Idiots team praises Aamir's show Satyamev Jayate

Director of 3 Idiots Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra have given the thumbs up to Aamir Khan's first television show Satyamev Jayate that aims at bringing social reform in the country.

Hirani feels the show could be a trendsetter.

"The show might change the face of television. This is not a fiction programme, it's a documentary. More programmes like these should come," said Hirani on the sidelines of an event here.

In the first episode of Satyamev Jayate, which was telecast Sunday, Aamir chose to discuss the issues around female foeticide.

Like several viewers across the nation, Chopra also loved the programme.

"I really liked the show. I even went to Aamir's house and praised him. We see rubbish and think this is what works. So many people watched the show that their (the show website's) server crashed," said Chopra, who is all for quality content on TV.

"If you do good work, people will see for sure," he added.

SENSEX SEEMS TO BE 4 MONTHS LOW IN MAY 2012

SENSEX
MUMBAI (Reuters) – The Sensex and the Nifty fell for a third straight session to notch its lowest close since January 16, as the RBI’s measures to bolster the rupee had a muted impact and as fears grow about sustained foreign selling.

Blue chips such as State Bank of India (SBI.NS) and Infosys extended recent declines on Thursday, despite appeasing measures from the government and the Reserve Bank of India.

The government on Monday delayed a controversial plan for taxation by a year, while on Thursday the central bank announced measures to boost dollar liquidity and ease intra-day rupee volatility.

However, both measures were not seen as enough to turn the tide in Indian markets, especially as global risk sentiment tumbles because of renewed concerns about the euro-zone.

Foreign investor have sold a net of 13.4 billion rupees over the previous three sessions, according to provisional exchange and regulatory data.

“There is a risk aversion seen in international investors as even the commodities and broader markets are falling,” said Sunil Jain, Head, Equity Research at brokerage Nirmal Bang.

The Sensex fell 0.4 percent to 16,420.05 points. The benchmark index has dropped 11.35 percent since hitting its 2012 peak on February 22, though it’s still up 6.2 percent for the year.

The Nifty lost 0.18 percent to 4,965.70 points.

In the short-term, global risk aversion will likely play be key in determining the markets’ outlook, according to traders.

Investors will also wait for industrial output data due out on Friday and the more important inflation report due on Monday.

Lenders were among the day’s decliners, even as the RBI measures, most prominently its announcement on Wednesday to further ease rule on FX deposits, were seen as benefitting the sector.

State Bank of India (SBI.NS) declined 2.12 percent, while ICICI Bank (ICBK.NS) fell 0.95 percent.

Among other blue chips, software services exporters Infosys (INFY.NS) lost 0.93 percent, while Reliance Industries (RELI.NS) lost 0.14 percent.

Shares in Maruti Suzuki (MRTI.NS) ended down 3 percent after Suzuki Motor Corp (7269.T), which owns a 54.2 percent stake in the local unit, posted a lower-than-expected Q4 operating profit and gave muted guidance.

Traders also cited concerns about the competitiveness of Maruti Suzuki‘s petrol models after the Indian unit of main rival Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) began offering discounts and other benefits on some its domestic models.

Rival Tata Motors (TAMO.NS) fell 1.25 percent.

Car sales in India rose an annual 3.4 percent in April, according to data from an industry body, a sixth consecutive monthly increase, but lower than in recent months after the country hiked excise duty on the vehicles.

Among gainers, shares in Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC.NS) rose 3 percent after both CLSA and Deutsche Bank upgraded the stock, citing attractive valuations among other reasons.

State-run Oil & Natural Gas (ONGC.NS) shares gained 1.3 percent after Jefferies initiated it with a ‘buy’ rating and a price target of 315 rupees, also citing valuations.

RR VS CSK IPL - RR vs CSK: Shane Watson dismisses Murali Vijay in the first over

NEW DELHI: Chasing 127-run target, Chennai Super Kings lost opener Murali Vijay for nought in the very first over against Rajasthan Royals in an important Indian Premier League match at Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur on Thursday.

Pacer Shane Watson bowled four dot balls to Vijay before the fifth one hit the off-stump as he provided Royals a much needed early breakthrough.

Electing to bowl, Ben Hilfinhaus (2-8) led a discipline Chennai attack to help Super Kings restrict Rajasthan Royals to 126/6.

Rajasthan Royals lost three top-order batsmen inside nine overs as they failed to create any momentum amidst rain interruptions.

Brad Hodge (33) and Stuart Binny (27) tried to resurrect the Rajasthan innings but failed to built substantial partnerships in their innings.

Hodge hit a six and couple of fours in his 28-ball innings, whereas Binny smashed a six and three boundaries in his quick-fire 18 balls knock.

Chennai pacer Yo Mahesh supported impressive Hilfenhaus perfectly as he took 2 wickets for 21 runs in his four overs. Spinners Ravindra Jadeja (1-21) and Ravichandran Ashwin (1-13) also took a wicket each for Chennai.

Yo Mahesh struck in the ninth over to dismiss Ajinkya Rahane (17) and reduce hosts Royals to 40/3 in 8.4 overs.

The match was marred with rain interruptions.

Ben Hilfenhaus dismissed Shane Watson (5) and Rahul Dravid (4) to give Chennai early breakthroughs against Rajasthan.

Hilfenhaus gave the visitors early breakthrough as he dismissed Dravid in the second over to reduce the Royals to 6/1 in 1.5 overs.

The important IPL clash was stopped for almost 50 minutes by light drizzle soon after Chennai pacer Albie Morkel bowled the first ball of the match.

Earlier, Chennai skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to field against Rajasthan.

"With the rain around we chose to field as we want to have a better idea of the target," Dhoni said after winning the toss.

Chennai have left out S Badrinath and Faf du Plessis, who are not well. Michael Hussey and S Anirudha will replace them in the playing eleven.

Rajasthan have made just one change in their playing eleven from last game, bringing in Brad Hodge in place of Owais Shah.

Teams:

Rajasthan Royals: Rahul Dravid (capt), Siddharth Trivedi, Shane Watson, Shaun Tait, Dishant Yagnik (wk), Brad Hodge, Johan Botha, Ashok Menaria, Pankaj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Stuart Binny.

Chennai Super Kings: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt/wk), Srikkanth Anirudha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dwayne Bravo, Ben Hilfenhaus, Michael Hussey, Ravindra Jadeja, Yo Mahesh, Albie Morkel, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay.

Sant Kabir quotes India : “I laugh when I hear that the fish in the water is thirsty

“I laugh when I hear that the fish in the water is thirsty.

You don't grasp the fact that what is most alive of all is inside your own house;
and you walk from one holy city to the next with a confused look!

Kabir will tell you the truth: go wherever you like, to Calcutta or Tibet;
if you can't find where your soul is hidden,
for you the world will never be real!”
― Kabir, The Kabir book: Forty-four of the ecstatic poems of Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India

Sant Kabir quotes India

 “There is dew
on these poems in the morning,
and at night a cool breeze may rise from them.

In the winter they are blankets, in the summer a place to swim.

I like talking to you like this. Have you moved
a step closer?

Soon we may be
kissing.”
― Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India

Sant Kabir quotes India

“I don't think there is such a thing as
an intelligent mega-rich
person.

For who with a fine mind can look
out upon this world and
hoard

what can nourish
a thousand
souls.”
― Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India : “I talk to my inner lover, and I say, why such rush?

“I talk to my inner lover, and I say, why such rush?
We sense that there is some sort of spirit that loves
birds and animals and the ants--
perhaps the same one who gave a radiance to you
in your mother's womb.
Is it logical you would be walking around entirely orphaned now?
The truth is you turned away yourself,
and decided to go into the dark alone.
Now you are tangled up in others, and have forgotten
what you once knew,
and that's why everything you do has some weird sense of failure in it.”
― Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India : “as jolaha ka maram na jana, jinh jag ani pasarinhh tana;

“as jolaha ka maram na jana, jinh jag ani pasarinhh tana;
dharti akas dou gad khandaya, chand surya dou nari banaya;
sahastra tar le purani puri, ajahu bine kathin hai duri;
kahai kabir karm se jori, sut kusut bine bhal kori;

No one could understand the secret of this weaver who, coming into existence, spread the warp as the world; He fixed the earth and the sky as the pillars, and he used the sun and the moon as two shuttles; He took thousands of stars and perfected the cloth; but even today he weaves, and the end is difficult to fathom.

Kabir says that the weaver, getting good or bad yarn and connecting karmas with it, weaves beautifully. ”
― Kabir, The Bijak of Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India : “The guest is inside you, and also inside me;

“The guest is inside you, and also inside me;
you know the sprout is hidden inside the seed.
We are all struggling; none of us has gone far.
Let your arrogance go, and look around inside.

The blue sky opens out farther and farther,
the daily sense of failure goes away,
the damage I have done to myself fades,
a million suns come forward with light,
when I sit firmly in that world.

I hear bells ringing that no one has shaken,
inside "love" there is more joy than we know of,
rain pours down, although the sky is clear of clouds,
there are whole rivers of light.
The universe is shot through in all parts by a single sort of love.
How hard it is to feel that joy in all our four bodies!

Those who hope to be reasonable about it fail.
The arrogance of reason has separated us from that love.
With the word "reason" you already feel miles away.”
― Kabir, The Kabir book: Forty-four of the ecstatic poems of Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India : “What is seen is not the Truth What is cannot be said

“What is seen is not the Truth
What is cannot be said
Trust comes not without seeing
Nor understanding without words
The wise comprehends with knowledge
To the ignorant it is but a wonder
Some worship the formless God
Some worship his various forms
In what way He is beyond these attributes
Only the Knower knows
That music cannot be written

Sant kabir Sayings India
“All know that the drop merges into the ocean, but few know that the ocean merges into the drop.”
― Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India : “Many have died;

“Many have died; you also will die. The drum of death is being beaten. The world has fallen in love with a dream. Only sayings of the wise will remain.”
― Kabir, The Bijak of Kabir

Sant Kabir quotes India : Are you looking for me?

“Are you looking for me?
I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
you will not find me in the stupas,
not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synagogues,
nor in cathedrals:
not in masses,
nor kirtans,
not in legs winding around your own neck,
nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me,
you will see me instantly —
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath.”

Gulab Gang 2012 : Madhuri Dixit is very excited about Gulab Gang, says Anubhav Sinha

After Ra.One, director Anubhav Sinha is excited to work with Madhuri Dixit in his debut production Gulab Gang.

The film will see the Dhak Dhak girl playing a gangster for the first time in her movie career. It is the second film after Dedh Ishqiya that Madhuri has signed after relocating to India from the US.

"It was not a sudden development though. I have been in touch with Madhuri for two-three months now and from the very first meeting, I could see that there was a very strong desire in her to do the film. After she returned from the US and announced her decision to make Mumbai as her base, our talks took concrete shape. Today as things have worked out really well, Madhuri is very excited to get going," Sinha said.

Set in the heartland of India, Gulab Gang would feature Madhuri as the central protagonist and is set in a gritty terrain.

"I was with Soumik Sen in Banaras to write another film and we were on this boat in Ganges. It was a beautiful atmosphere and he started telling me a story he had written. I really loved it and felt that it was fantastic. When he expressed his desire to direct it, I was all for it. On my return to Mumbai, I met up Madhuri and she agreed," said Sinha, who started his career as a director with Tum Bin.

Fatboy Slim Delhi 2012 : DJ Fatboy Slim charms Delhi

Fatboy Slim Delhi 2012
DJ Fatboy Slim charms Delhi
Despite a humble turnout, legendary dance musician and acclaimed record producer, DJ Fatboy Slim mesmerised the desi audiences with his rapid fire beats. The event is expected to become a guiding star to the burgeoning clubbing genre in the country. Who is DJ Fatboy
Slim?
For the uninitiated, Norman Quentin Cook a.k.a. Fatboy Slim, is popularly hailed as the "biggest DJ in the world," and a virtuoso of the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) genre. Compared to the likes of the legendary Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy, Cook pioneered a completely new form of music called Big Beat.

His accolades evenly live up to his reputation. He has bagged a record number of MTV and Brit awards including the famous star on the Brighton walk of fame alongside erstwhile British PM, Winston Churchill's. And it doesn't end just here, he also boasts of scintillating performances like Glastonbury festival, Big Beach Boutique, O2, Rockness festival, Coachella valley Music Festival and the FIFA world cup festival, each a Mecca for revelers world over, raking in a quarter of a million music buffs. What seems then a landmark event in the nation's music history on paper, definitely lives up to its stellar reputation in action as we were to realise.

Ground Zero
The tempo for the historic night at HUDA grounds, Gurgaon was set by DJ Arjun Vagale and the Dualist inquiry complemented by the witty quips of VJ-DJ Nikhil Chinapa. But the night's loudest shrieks erupted when the fabled Fatboy Slim revealed himself on center stage with his zen like presence and trademark barefoot avatar. What followed suit was a rapid fire sound of bass, magical lights and psychedelic beats, transporting the merry makers to a completely unknown dimension.

The Artist who is acclaimed by Q magazine as 'the top 50 artists to see before you die', shot away his pet tracks like the Weapon of Choice, MJ's Bille Jean, The Rockafellar Skank, Right Here Right Now, including an Indianised version of his track Chuckie called I'm in Delhi. Clubbers in the VIP lounge were seen climbing on the bar stools to get a better view of the artist while throbbing crowds in the main arena breathlessly tripped and screamed at the most eardrum damaging, seismic acts of the day.

And if mind numbing beats were not enough, the open air discotheque truly came alive with 3D laser lighting, psychotropic visual effects and Cook's hallmark on-stage histrionics. The artist received a well deserved encore, etching a permanent EDM magnificent memory in every reveller's soul.

Feedback
It was not suprising then to get rave reviews of the gig. VJ Anoushka, of the VIVA fame, was spotted at the event and had to say this, "DJ Fatboy Slim was absolutely amazing...you should have looked at the way people were going mad." She further added, "I absolutely enjoyed the gig and would be looking forward to his next performance."

Festival Director and our host for the evening Nikhil Chinapa opined, "Dance music has a huge market worldwide and I'm glad to see a legendary artist like Fatboy Slim finally coming to India. His performance will further the cause of dance music in the sub-continent and will lead to a generational shift."

A large section of the crowd consisted of people in the 25-35 age group. Uber riche, single, MNC employees found a perfect Saturday night to explore and enjoy.

But, the desi masses were conspicuous by their absence. 'Foreign' genre of music possibly is not as appealing to the Indians as Bollywood or Honey Singh might be? One Naveen Singh, 38, bank employee, who brought along his family complete with his mother-in-law moaned, "Yeh sab kya hain, sab log pagal ho gaye hain, main apni family ko lekar aya tha kyuki free passes mile the par yahan kuch maza nahi aa raha hain (What's all this, are these people mad? I brought along my family here only because I had free passes but I'm not having any fun here)." His mother in law, Meena Devi, 69, was more politically correct, "Apna apna shauk hain, kya kar sakte hain (choices vary depending on the tastes)," she sighed. These were just a few unfortunate souls who floated about the venue.

Notwithstanding the low turnout at the event, the God of EDM DJ Fatboy Slim enthralled one and all with his divine performance. We wouldn't be surprised if he would make more visits to India-On demand!... in the times to come though.

'Rock'onomics
The brisk growth of the Indian Economy especially in the service sector and it's integration with the world has not only put money in the pockets of our youth but has also diversified our tastes and choices. DJ Fatboy Slim's maiden tour to India follows DJ Guetta's successful gig in March this year. These represent, as observed by music buffs, a growing trend where international bands and brands flock to India eager to tap into our markets. Musical concerts as well as hi-life events offer a golden opportunity to lifestyle brands (watches, liquor, designer wear, tobacco companies) to sensitise their target audience consisting of uber riche youth and creme-la-creme of high society.

As per analysts, with the saturation of the Western markets the future growth in the EDM genre will be seen in emerging markets of Brazil and India. According to some estimates, The EDM market alone is worth $2m, based on the salaries of the DJs.

The venues chosen for DJ Fatboy Slim's tour also corroborate these trends (Gurgaon: Millenium City, Bengaluru: Silicon city). As the popularity of music festivals in the country like Sundance (Goa) grows, sky is the only limit for this sector.

"From fashion ramps to the race courses, from popular sports like T20 cricket to motor racing, from Bollywood nights to socially relevant causes, Gitanjili has always been associated with not only lifestyle events but also musical nights of all genres," says Mehul Choksi, Charman and MD, Gitanjili Group, one of the sponsors for the event.

"Kingfisher Livewire is proud to be associated with the Fatboy Slim Tour, an amalgamation of world class music and the best of beer to give people the ultimate clubbing experience," says Gurpreet Singh, GM Marketing, United breweries Limited.

'Jannat 2' has a good weekend!

'Jannat 2' has a good weekend!
An Emraan Hashmi film inevitably ends up drawing footfalls to theatres and this is a fact proved yet again at box office last weekend. Hashmi’s new release Jannat 2 got a good response from movie buffs.

Directed by Kunal Deshmukh and introducing the newbie Esha Gupta, the film opened promisingly on Friday with a collection of Rs. 8.5 crore nett. There was an alarming dip in the collection on Saturday as the business declined to Rs. 6.9 crore, but the worries were unfounded as the film picked up again on Sunday with a collection of Rs. 8.6 crore.

If you look at the graph, it goes in the shape of a V, ending on Sunday approximately where it started on Friday, but with a dip in between.

The aggregate of Rs. 24 crore nett isn’t great but good enough for the film to not incur losses. The audience response was particularly good in Maharashtra; the collection in the North, particularly, Delhi, wasn’t up to the mark.

Bottom line: Jannat 2 will have to sustain at the box office this week with a decent collection to emerge as a Hit.

The other release of last week, Fatso, didn’t fare well at box office.

Meanwhile, the John Abraham-produced Vicky Donor has emerged as a SUPERHIT with a collection of Rs. 29 crore in 17 days.

Tezz is a FLOP.

The coming Friday would see multiple releases: Ishaqzaade, Dangerous Ishhq and ‘The Forest’.

Amir Khan : Post 'Satyamev Jayate' Aamir to meet Gehlot

Aamir Khan "Satyamev Jayate"
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is likely to meet Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday in connection with female foeticide cases highlighted by his TV reality show "Satyamev Jayate". Khan in his programme “Satyamev Jayate” aired Sunday had highlighted the story of a sting
operation done seven years back by two journalists to expose increasing female foeticide cases in four states - Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Following the expose, the Rajasthan government had come down heavily on doctors who were involved in sex determination tests and abortions and started a probe against them. However, the doctors since then have either been promoted or have been cleared of the charges.

Aamir said in his show that he would appeal to the Rajasthan chief minister to get the cases against the doctors clubbed together and tried in a fast track court and appealed to viewers to support his signature campaign.

“Aamir has expressed his desire to meet the chief minister on May 9. The chief minister’s office is looking at the CM’s schedule on that day. Chances are high that he (Gehlot) would meet him,” said a senior official in the chief minister’s office.

Rajasthan has been in the news for increasing cases of female foeticide and female infanticide.

According to Census 2011, Rajasthan has 883 girls between the age of 0-6 for every 1,000 boys. The child sex ratio in 2001 was 909.

Alarmed over the state's skewed sex ratio, the state government recently announced steps to curb pre-natal sex determination tests at ultrasound clinics.
